You can now create your own labels and prepare them for printing using our free InDesign label templates. Step 3 – Congratulations, your sheet of labels is ready for printing ! Our completed layout of 8 labels – RCL8 If each label has a unique item – like a name, as in our example, you can simply edit each label as required. With the top two positions filled, select both labels and drag and copy those down to the next row, as you drag down, the smart guides will appear to ensure you get them in exactly the right place. Once the first label is in place you can drag and copy the label across to the right position. Single label added to layout template – RCL8 As you get close to the position the smart guides will appear to guide you into positioning your design. Now paste the single label design on to the template and move it into position as the first, top left label. (Our layout templates contain two layers 1) a locked layer containing the label guides and 2) a layer to place your design on). Finally check that “Snap to Guides” and “Smart Guides” are activated/selected (View -> Grids and Guides) In the layout template first check you have the correct layer selected for the design, next check the “show frame edges” is activated/selected (View -> Extras -> Show Frame Edges). Now your label design is complete you can copy it and open the layout template. Step 2 – Add the single label to the layout template This will help you position your label on the print template later.įinally, select all the elements of the design and group them together, ready for copying and pasting into the layout template. When you have completed your design, add an empty graphic frame to the design that is the exact same size as the label.

Using the single label template create your design for the label, adding anything you like, in our example, for a fictional conference, we added a logo, a delegate banner and the delegates name and job title. We have the single RCL8 label template and the RCL8 print layout template ready. Let’s get startedįor this demonstration we’re going to create a simple conference delegate label for our 8 up RCL8 labels.
